Scott Carpenter Signed Photo on Phone with JFK, with Added Comments. A 10" x 8" silk finish B&W photo of Carpenter in his spacesuit (sans helmet), talking on the telephone after his orbital flight. It is signed in blue felt tip: "Talking with Pres. Kennedy on board USS Intrepid after Aurora 7 flight 24 May 1962/ M. Scott Carpenter". John F. Kennedy, of course, was a major advocate of the U.S. space program; it was almost exactly one year before Carpenter's flight that he announced to Congress his goal of sending an American to the moon by the end of the decade and asked for the finances to support such an accelerated program.
