Description

Gioachino Rossini Autograph Letter Signed "Rossini." One page, 4.5" x 6.75", no place; undated [circa 1840]. Addressed to composer Eugene-Theodore Troupenas, written in French. Rossini writes to help a protege by the name of Mr. Calegari, with a translation reading: "My good Troupnas, Mr. Calegari will hand you my epistle. I recommend him to you very warmly, he wants a word of introduction to V. Labame, do all that you can to assist my protege." Rossini has addressed the letter on the verso, "Mr. Troupnas Composer of Music." Accompanied by a translation.

Gioachino Rossini (1792-1868) was an Italian opera composer, most famous for "The Barber of Seville" and "Cinderella."

Condition: Backed with archival material. Flattened mail folds and light soiling and toning. With a few marginal notations in pencil.
