Description

Abraham Lincoln Appointment Signed. One partially printed page, 17 x 10 ¼ inches (sight), Washington; March 9, 1865. Signed just a month before his assassination, Lincoln appoints William Wilson as Deputy Postmaster at Logansport, Indiana. Signed, "Abraham Lincoln," and countersigned by Secretary of State, William Seward. With a blind-embossed paper seal in the lower left corner. Matted to the overall size of 21 ½ x 14 ½ inches.

Condition: Creased along folds and lightly toned throughout. Minor staining near the seal, not affecting it. "Lincoln" is exceptionally bold, resulting in slight haloing. Not examined outside of the mat.
