Panoramic edge paintings of four scenes from the book, each in oval frame with manuscript label, painting to bottom edge signed "M" to the lower right corner but artist unknown. Fore-edge painting depicting two scenes, "So three shining ones came to him and saluted him" and "Come in, thou blessed of the Lord;" top edge painting depicting "He drew his sword with intent to make way for them" and bottom edge painting depicting "Apollyon spread forth his dragon's wings and sped away."
Octavo. 508 pages, [6, leaves of plates]. Illustrated with engraved frontispiece, plates, and vignettes. Diced black calf double ruled in gilt, spine decorated in gilt with brown leather spine label stamped in gilt and 5 raised bands. Corners bumped, moderate edgewear, somewhat rubbed and worn. Marbled endpapers, front hinge starting, All edges gilt; somewhat foxed, minor soiling and some offsetting, minor text block edgewear, some pencil notations in text. Very good with charming, if somewhat amateur edge-paintings, colors a little dulled. From the Estate of Randall J. Moskovitz, MD, Memphis, Tennessee
