[Taylor & Hessey, presumed]. Jane Taylor. Essays in Rhyme. London: Taylor & Hessey, 1820. Fourth edition. Seemingly contemporary fore-edge painting depicting and English estate, artist unknown. Possibly signed and inscribed by the author to the front free endpaper recto, "(?) / from J. Taylor." 12mo. 174 pages. Presumed Taylor & Hessey binding, unsigned; maroon straight grain morocco decorated in gilt and blind, spine decorated in gilt with five raised bands. Corners bumped and rubbed, moderate edgewear, joints starting, spine somewhat worn. Inner dentelles gilt, lavender endpapers; binder's stamp to front free endpaper verso, somewhat faded along margins. Internally clean and tight, all edges gilt; minor foxing, minor bleed from fore-edge painting. Very good with bright and detailed, though somewhat worn, fore-edge painting.
