Spanish-American War: Rare State of Nevada Service Medal With 1st Nevada Volunteer Cavalry Corps Badge.

Bronze, 33-mm planchet with full-wrap brooch. Obverse features scenes of commerce - railroad, mining, agriculture. Captioned "ALL FOR OUR COUNTRY." The reverse: "1898 / PRESENTED BY / NEVADA FRIENDS / FOR HIS SERVICE / IN WAR WITH / SPAIN / AND THE / PHILIPPINES / 1899." The ribbon appears to be from a Philippine Campaign medal. A German-silver, 2-inch, pinback 1st Nevada Cavalry badge is pinned to the ribbon of the medal. The 1st Nevada Cavalry served in the Philippine Islands from November, 1898, returning November 5, 1899.
