Engraved frontispiece and twenty-three engraved plates, including one folding. Contemporary calf with spine gilt in compartments and five raised bands. Rebacked at an early date, with the original spine laid down. Joints now cracking and wear with slight loss to the corners and extremities. Browning or foxing to the sheets, very light and intermittent for the most part, a few paper flaws, holes or tears. Plates very clean. Previous owner's ink name to front endpaper. A very good copy in an appropriate and attractive binding. Includes sections on astronomy, geography, navigation, mechanics and architecture, among others.
