Louisa May Alcott Autograph Manuscript Signed. One page, 4.25" x 7.12" (sight), Concord, Massachusetts; January 1887. Just one year before her death, Alcott records a poem titled "My Kingdom" that she wrote as a young thirteen-year-old. She writes in full: My Kingdom Written at thirteen years of age.1845A little kingdom I possess, Where thoughts & feelings dwell, And very hard I find the task Of governing it well. How can I learn to rule myself, To be the child I should. Honest & brave, & never tire Of trying to be good? How can I keep a sunny soul To shine along life's way? How can I tune my little heart, To sweetly sing all day?" Signed, "Louisa May Alcott." The poem originally included two additional stanzas, which are not included here. This manuscript offers a rare example of Alcott reflecting on one of her earliest works at the end of her life. Matted and framed to an overall size of 9.75" x 12.75".

Condition: Creased at folds. Toned with minor foxing. The frame chipped at the bottom. Not examined outside of the frame.
