Description

Howard Chandler Christy: "We the People" Bronze Plaque. 13.75" x 19.25" cast bronze plaque, sculptor Rud Freund, foundry General Bronze Corporation. A very rare plaque issued to commemorate our Constitution's sesquicentennial in 1937. It depicts the Founding Fathers surrounding the Constitution with an idealized Lady Liberty above, titled "We The People". It was copied from a painting created by noted American illustrator Howard Chandler Christy with a "WPA" feel, reflecting the times in which it was created. It is signed "Howard Chandler Christy" in the space below the writing desk. There is a slight warp to one corner which does not impact its integrity or display potential. Total weight: 15 lbs., 2 oz.
