Description

Rare Civil War Period Issue Brogans. Known also as bootees and "Jefferson boots". Brown leather uppers with two pairs of un-reinforced eyelets with leather strings. The vamp, or front, of the shoe is connected to each side by a double row of stitching reinforced at the top with a rivet. Square toes. Pegged heels and sole, one shoe repaired with steel pegs. The soles are split in half. Showing good honest wear. Very rare with very few examples surviving.

Condition: Good. The leather is dry, as might be expected. The soles are split longitudinally, as mentioned.
