London Colt Model 1851 Navy Percussion Pistol, First Model.

Serial no. 40893 [barrel, frame, triggerguard, cylinder, lever and butt, wedge not removed], .36 caliber, 7 1/2-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight. Top of barrel one-line reads -ADDRESS COL COLT LONDON-. Blued finish. COLTS / PATENT stamped to left side of frame. M marking on left side of triggerguard near frame. Iron triggerguard and backstrap. Smooth walnut one-piece grip. British proof marks on barrel and cylinder. Steel backstrap and triggerguard.
According to '51 Colt Navies by Nathan L Swayze, manufactured in Hartford, Conn., for sale in London. Described as the "Hartford - London Navy" page 144. Gun was manufactured in 1855.

Condition: Very good plus. Retaining approximately 20-30% finish with balance thinning out, spotting and turning dark brown. Dings around wedge area. Evidence of cleaning certain areas; including some pitting present. Grips appear fine plus with minor scuffs, dings and wear. Marred screws, a few scuffs to nipple and slot edge. Action good.
