Description

Military-Style German Swept Hilt Rapier.

Approximately 48-inches overall with a 40-inch double edged straight blade, with single fuller on each side of the blade. Blade marked with the running wolf of Solingen on [both sides]. Iron figured swept hilt design with recurved quillons with Pas D' Ane, Anneau and Branch. Wooden handle. Ovoid pommel design with button. Partial tag reads: MILITARY SWEPT HILT / CIRCA 1575-1590. Previously sold as Lot 653 in Little John's Auction in California, June 14 [year not known].

Condition: Good with age wear and patina throughout blade. Blade/grip need tightening. Blade cleaned at some point, showing an overall mottled gray patina on hilt. Fine scratches present to metal. Traces of an applied lacquer finish, nicotine stains.
