The Mormon Tribune, the
Salt Lake Tribune was founded in 1870 by former members of the LDS Church William Godbe, Elias Harrison, and Edward Tullidge. With support from the local Liberal Party, the newspaper was launched as an independent publication that frequently criticized Church leadership.
These issues contain reporting on both domestic and international events, with a particular emphasis on topics relevant to the Mormon community. Includes debates over the legality of polygamy, scrutiny of Brigham Young's leadership, and discussions surrounding Utah's path to statehood.
Condition: Generally good.
Somewhat toned with wear at the edges, resulting in chips and short tears, occasionally affecting legibility; some pages detached; scattered staining, foxing, or soiling to several issues.
