Three Issues of Dunlap's American Daily Advertiser. Dated January 2 to March 11, 1793. Philadelphia; 12 1/4 x 19 1/2 inches, four pages each printed in five columns. Originally published as the
Pennsylvania Packet and the General Advertiser, this newspaper was one of America's earliest daily papers. In addition to personal advertisements, it published articles on domestic and foreign affairs. Includes:
No. 4349. January 2, 1793. Contains reporting on the French Revolution, including articles from the National Convention which would ultimately sentence King Louis the XVI to death on January 21, 1793.
No. 4406. March 9, 1793. Features a breakdown of the national debt published by the Treasury Department, as well as reporting on celebrations of George Washington's birthday.
No. 4407. March 11, 1793. Contains a continuation of an article criticizing Alexander Hamilton's management of the Treasury Department.
Condition: Each issue somewhat toned and creased at folds; light, scattered staining throughout; minor edgewear; evidence of previous binding at left edge. No. 4349 largely separated at center fold, touching text but retaining legibility.
