An attractive map by the Royal Geographer of France, Nicholas de Fer, adapted from Guillaume Delisle's 1701 Carte des environs du Missisipi.

As a member of the court, de Fer had access to the most up-to-date information of his era and used this access to create stunningly accurate maps. Here, he shows a well-formed Mississippi Delta and Gulf coastline, with Florida depicted correctly as a peninsula rather than as an archipelago, as was common for many other maps at the time. A rare and historically important map of the Gulf Coast.

Condition: Not examined out of frame. Lightly toned with smoothed folds and very light, scattered foxing.
