Abraham Lincoln: Plaster Hand Castings from Life by Leonard Volk. Life-size solid plaster set of hands with bronze painted finish. Each measures 4" wide, 6" long and 2" tall. They have the distinguishing feature of a lengthy inscription on the "trunk" of each wrist: "This cast of the/ Hand of Abraham Lincoln/ was made from the first replica/ of the original made at/ Springfield, Ill. the Sunday/ following his nomination/ to the Presidency/ in 1860." Unlike most examples which were cast by Alva Studios in the 1950s and are so marked, this lacks that marking and are likely circa 1880.
Condition: Scattered chipping to the painted surface. Very good overall.
