Mongolian Short Sword, Ching Dynasty.

Measures approximately 16 1/2-inches overall with a 9-inch single-edged blade of straight, tapering form, more reminiscent of a shortened officer's katana. The sword is mounted with a jade hilt of traditional form, while the scabbard is fashioned in a fully rounded section, both embellished with white jade, coral, and turquoise elements throughout. The scabbard also incorporates a fitted set of chopsticks, resting in dedicated slots along its length. Mounting belt loop present. The sword is accompanied by a Certificate of Antiquity from The China Art - Craft Company, dated 21st April, 1969, Hong Kong [No. 1108]. The certificate states that, to the best of their knowledge, the item is genuine and produced during the Ching Dynasty, specifically the period of China Ching, 1796-1820 A.D. It also affirms that the item has not undergone any modern restoration, additions, or replacements. The certificate correctly records the overall length but gives the blade as 6 inches, which we believe to be a misprint as the blade clearly measures 9 inches. The China Art - Craft Company of Kowloon, Hong Kong specialized in antiques, objects d'art, and jewelry.

Condition: Fine as presented. Minor overall handling wear. Metal elements with light toning. Jade, coral, and turquoise show expected natural imperfections and minor surface wear. The blade with moderate pitting and scattered marks, more than likely from long-term storage and not properly kept.
