London Marked Brass-Barreled Flintlock Blunderbuss.

Unserialized, bore diameter approximately 1 1/4-inch, 12-inch two-stage brass barrel with flared muzzle. Top of barrel stamped: LONDON, with light scroll engraving and two London proof marks. Lock marked SHEPPARD (?) in script. Smooth hardwood stock with inlaid brass escutcheon to top of wrist. Decoratively engraved brass triggerguard and buttplate. Brass-tipped wooden ramrod. Blunderbusses were commonly used for close-range defense, by coach guards, sailors, and civilians, because they were powerful and effective at short distances. It was typically a flintlock, muzzleloading gun that fired lead shot, balls, or even scrap metal.

Condition: Very good. Overall showing honest handling wear, age and fine patches of pitting. Noticeable scuffs, dings and bruising present to wood. Action good. Lightly pitted bore.
