Description:
McKinley & Hobart: The Sought After Bicycle Mechanical, With Mark Hanna. Bicycle riding and races were all the rage in the 1890s. Bicycles were a motif or theme in the election of 1896 and "Good Roads" a Republican slogan. This clever novelty shows industrialist Marcus Hanna riding a bicycle "Warranted for 4 Years" with photographs of McKinley and Hobart on the wheels. The die-cut figure of "Hanna" can be pushed up and down, to simulate a rider-in-motion. It is difficult to find these in good condition. This example is in great shape, with no fading, stains, or paper loss. There is some minor wear by the rider's elbow and hip, caused by the mechanical action involved in operating the novelty. We consider this an unimprovable example. Diameter 1.125".
