Richard Matheson (b. 1926) is one of the most prolific and honored authors in the science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres. Some of his novels include I Am Legend (1954), The Shrinking Man (1956), A Stir of Echoes (1959), and What Dreams May Come (1978), all of which have been made into films. He also wrote fourteen episodes of The Twilight Zone (including Nightmare at 20,000 Feet, one of the most famous episodes), and one episode of the original Star Trek series (The Enemy Within).
