An "Oz" First Edition, Inscribed by L. Frank Baum

L. Frank Baum. Rinkitink in Oz. Chicago: The Reilly & Britton Co., [1916].

First edition. Signed by L. Frank Baum in two colors of ink on the fly-leaf: "Ozily Yours / L. Frank Baum." Octavo. 314 pages.

Publisher's light blue cloth with black stamping on the spine and a pictorial paper label in color on the front board. Cloth is rubbed and edgeworn with minor fraying to corners. Soiling and a few areas of discoloration to rear board. Paper label is rubbed with minor chipping to bottom edge. The front hinge is split and is attached by the cloth spine lining. Board and page edges are lightly foxed. A good copy.

Author of seventeen Oz books, beginning with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Baum has achieved iconic status as a children's author. His legacy has endured for more than a century with no signs of diminishing for future generations. Oz books are rarely offered signed or inscribed in any condition.
