Bid increments determine the lowest amount you may bid on a particular lot. Normally, bids must be at least one bidding increment over the current bid. Reserve (If Any) Not Posted Yet:
Although many lots will not get reserves, this signifies that we have not yet posted any reserves to this entire auction. Reserves are usually posted approximately 3 days prior to the closing for Internet-only auctions, and approximately 7 days prior to the live session for Signature auctions.
Consignor Has Not Yet Submitted a Reserve:
Although the consignor's agreement allows a reserve on this lot, the deadline for submitting such a reserve has elapsed. If consignor submits a reserve post-deadline and the item fails to meet that reserve, we may charge the consignor a higher reserve fee.

This lot is being sold without a consignor reserve.

Edmontosaurus annectens
Cretaceous, Maastrichtian stage
Private ranch, Hell Creek Formation, Wibaux Co., mid-eastern Montana
Discovered in 2002, this is a supreme example of the well-known family of "duck" lizards, the name for the Anatosaurus, now considered synonymous with Edmontosaurus, a member of the Hadrosauridae family. Although the skull of the Edmontosaurus was not as flattened towards the front as some others, the duck-like beak shape remains distinctive in this 90% complete museum-quality example. This important specimen is not a composite; it has been meticulously prepared from a single individual. Its numerous teeth constantly renewed themselves, and approximately 98% of them are present here, bringing the skull all the more strikingly to life. What is more, living at the end of the Cretaceous, they were exact contemporaries of the T-Rex, as vividly demonstrated here by three scarred-over bite marks which are present from a T-Rex attack. The Hell Creek formation is renowned for the large amount of Cretaceous fauna and flora in its record, and yielded the most complete Hadrosaurid fossil in 2000. The tip of the skull here has been restored in fiberglass and it measures 34 x 21 x 13 inches and comes mounted on an adjustable display stand.
