Description:
NASA Group Two Astronaut Color Photo Signed on the Mat, Directly from the Jim Rathmann Collection. A 9.5" x 7.5" color photo of the second group of astronauts chosen by NASA in September 1962 glued to an 11.75" x 10.875" piece of matboard. The so-called "New Nine" are standing and kneeling in two rows; their signatures beneath the photo are in two matching rows: "Elliot See", "James McDivitt", "James Lovell", "Edward H. White II", "Thomas P. Stafford", [and beneath] "Charles Conrad Jr", "Frank Borman", "Neil Armstrong", and "John Young". It is inscribed at the bottom by Ed White II: "To Jim, A 'Real Race Driver,'/ With Best Regards,". As is often the case, the photo and mat have faded somewhat due to exposure to light while framed. The signatures are all neat and dark. Overall fine condition.
