Washington, DC: U.S. Government Printing Office, December 1944. Edition limited to 100 copies, of which this is number 9. Presentation copy, inscribed by the President to his Secretary of Agriculture: "For Claude R. Wickard / Christmastide 1944 / from Franklin D. Roosevelt." Small slim quarto. Unpaginated (four pages of text). Printed in black, blue, and red. Vellum-backed marble paper boards. Gilt-stamped green leather title label to spine. In original acetate wrappers. A fine copy in slipcase.

From the collection of Claude R. Wickard (1893-1967) who served as Secretary
of Agriculture in Roosevelt's cabinet from 1940 to 1945. He resigned the cabinet
post in 1945 to head the Rural Electrification Administration, a New Deal agency
created by FDR to promote and encourage rural electrification.
