Description
Original Russian Sokol Spacesuit. A rare opportunity to own a complete Russian Sokol (Falcon) Type KV-1 or KV-2 as manufactured by the Zvezda company. This pressure-type suit is white nylon canvas with blue trim. It has an attached pressurized hood with hinged plastic visor securing to blue anodized aluminum clavicle flange, trussed sleeves with adjustable articulating cables in the upper arm and webbed belt lashings, pressure gauge on left sleeve, detachable gloves, double-V-front zip closure, lace-up crotch with triangular placket, anodized aluminum umbilical interfaces on body for electrical, air and coolant line with attached cables and hoses, pressure equalization valve on chest, support sling wrapping from chest to back by means of webbed belts and metal clips, adjustable metrically calibrated webbed straps attached to metal rings on side seams and along crotch, pleated knees, a utility pocket on each leg, attached soled feet; rubberized cloth lining with Zvezda logo on the chest. Included with the spacesuit is an elasticized protective cover for the visor, what may be the original black nylon carrying bag, and two snap-on rubber protective covers for the wrist holes when the suit is stored. The suit is 63" from the top of the helmet to the bottom of the integral boots, 29" inseam, 17" across the shoulder, and the sleeves are 23" long. The suit is lightly soiled and has obviously seen use. It is unknown whether the soiling has occurred from flight or through training.The Sokol spacesuit was introduced in 1973 and is still in use today. It is referred to by its maker as a "rescue suit" and is intended to protect Cosmonauts from accidental depressurization of the spacecraft.
